Hi, I’m Christie – a working mum of two who is passionate about cooking healthy family meals and homemade sweet treats. Enjoying good, nutritious food is living life to the fullest, so I say always cook and eat the healthy stuff with gusto!
I live in the beautiful Northern Rivers region of NSW which is home to iconic beachside towns such as Byron Bay and Lennox Head. Here we’re raising our two children and living the good life with lots of space, fresh air and best of all – a rich selection of local produce to play with.
My blog, Fig & Cherry, features many different kinds of recipes as I am fascinated by all cuisines. I’m not a vegetarian, but over the years a strong love has flourished for vegetarian, vegan, raw, gluten free and dairy free cooking, so these feature heavily. I get a real kick out of experimenting with different ingredients, especially when I create something that people with dietary requirements can enjoy. I just love creating recipes for the amazing community of Vitasoy fans and particularly love the challenge of specific requests!
I’m a huge fan of Vitasoy Soy Milky and love it in my morning porridge and brewed with chai tea. When breastfeeding both my children I drank Vitasoy Calci-Plus for an extra boost of nutrients (calcium and vitamin D) as part of a balanced diet.
My Favourite recipes
Chocolate Quinoa Cake: Cooked quinoa makes this cake really moist and adds lots of protein and nutrients too!
Lentil Bolognese: Everyone should have a good vegetarian bolognese recipe up their sleeve, especially when it’s made extra creamy with yummy soymilk.
Chia and Coconut Pikelets: Kid friendly but with superfood ingredients to boost even the fussiest eaters’ diet (yummy for adults too!).
